5 Wedding Photography Tips for Couples |
We had the chance to chat with Elizabeth with At Dawn & Dusk, a North Texas / DFW area wedding photographer. She captured one of our couple's wedding day at Hawthorn Hills and was incredibly sweet to answer a few questions to help you during your own wedding planning journey. Read on below to get some tips from a a local DFW Wedding Photographer and click on over to see her website and learn more about the services that she offers. Now - on to the 5 wedding photography tips (and one bonus question of course).... |
If you were planning a celebration what is one thing you'd be sure to include from your photographer?
Some solitary, private moments to capture real emotion in my couple portraits. Away from prying eyes of friends and family so we my partner and I can be as emotive as we want without feeling like we have to perform.
What are two things couples should ask photographers when interviewing for their wedding?
What is their shooting style? Do they prefer to focus on candid, posed, or a mix of both? Depending on your comfort on camera you may want more posing guidance, or less if you’re looking for a true documentary experience.
What makes your business unique or tell us about your "why"!
I’m all about romance, drama and whimsy. The more fantastical your wedding ideas, the more up my alley they are. I love traditional weddings, but unique weddings filled with elements that really reflect the couples sense of wonder and romance is where I live and thrive. It’s that sweet spot where the couples and I begin to collaborate and creativity is flowing both ways.
What is the coolest wedding trend you've been seeing lately?
Anything non-traditional has been a joy to witness. From non-traditional engagement rings, to black wedding gowns and swords, it’s those elements that allow the couple to play and really express themselves on their wedding days
What is something you wish couples did differently?
I wish more couples felt free to express themselves. I’ve seen too many couples adhere to tradition because that’s what they feel is expected from them, but there’s always room to expand on your day and make more tailored to who you are as a couple.
If you could give couples one piece of advice what would it be?
Have FUN. At the end of the day what you’ll remember isn’t the flowers, the napkins, the guest book. You’ll remember how you felt. Your joy will radiate off every image in your wedding gallery,
On every picture on social media. In the whole planning just remember the why of the celebration, and don’t forget that at the end of the day you’re there to celebrate each other and your love. Forget perfection, and live for the various moments of your wedding.
