Day 1: Explore the Best of Dallas

Welcome to Dallas! Immerse yourself in the energy and culture of this vibrant city, known for its art, food, and shopping.

Morning: Discover Dallas’ Art & Culture
Start your day in the Dallas Arts District, home to world-class museums and galleries.
  • Dallas Museum of Art: One of the largest art museums in the country, offering a variety of exhibits ranging from classical to contemporary.
  • Nasher Sculpture Center: A tranquil garden filled with stunning sculptures, perfect for a quiet morning stroll.
  • Klyde Warren Park: After your museum visit, enjoy this urban park, which connects the arts district to downtown. Grab a coffee from a food truck and relax in the fresh air.
Lunch: Try Some Texas BBQ or Tex-Mex
You can't visit Texas without indulging in some delicious BBQ. Head to Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum for some of the best brisket, ribs, and pulled pork in Dallas. This popular spot draws locals and tourists alike.

Afternoon: Shop & Stroll Through Highland Park Village
Spend your afternoon shopping and people-watching at Highland Park Village, an upscale shopping district known for its luxury stores and beautiful architecture. Even if you’re not in the mood to shop, it’s a great place to walk around and enjoy some sweet treats at Bird Bakery or Royal Blue Grocery.

Evening: Catch a Game or a Show
Depending on the season, you can either catch a Dallas Mavericks or Dallas Stars game at the American Airlines Center, or enjoy a live performance at the Winspear Opera House or AT&T Performing Arts Center.

Dinner: If you'll be staying closer to Hawthorn Hills we recommend trying out some fantastic local spots - Marty B's in Bartonville, or the Denton Square with many casual dining options where you can stroll around after and enjoy some Beth Marie's Ice Cream, live music and a sunset.
For casual lake front dining and a twist on Tex Mex check out Hula Hut in Little Elm (located between Denton and Dallas).

Day 2: Fort Worth Adventure & Wedding at Hawthorn Hills

Today, you’ll explore Fort Worth in the morning and afternoon, then head back to North Dallas for the main event—celebrating love at Hawthorn Hills!

Morning: Step Into Western Heritage at the Fort Worth Stockyards (30-40 minutes south of Hawthorn Hills)
Kick off your Fort Worth adventure with a visit to the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards.
  • The Stockyards National Historic District: Explore this historic area, which preserves the city's cowboy roots. Take in a cattle drive, wander through western-themed shops, and maybe even catch a rodeo if you're lucky!
  • Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame: Learn about the state’s rodeo legends and see vintage wagons and cowboy memorabilia.

Lunch: Grab a Bite at Joe T. Garcia’s
After soaking up the cowboy culture, head to Joe T. Garcia’s, a legendary Mexican restaurant in Fort Worth. Their sprawling patio is the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny Texas afternoon.

Afternoon: Wander the Fort Worth Water Gardens & Museums
On your way back to Denton to get ready, stop by the Fort Worth Water Gardens, an architectural marvel perfect for a cool afternoon walk. If you're a fan of art and history, make time for one of Fort Worth's top museums:
  • Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth: A sleek, contemporary space housing works by renowned 20th-century artists.
  • Fort Worth Botanic Garden: For a peaceful retreat, explore these lush gardens featuring a variety of themed areas, including a stunning Japanese garden.

Evening: Celebrate Love at Hawthorn Hills
Now, it's time to head to Hawthorn Hills in North DFW for the wedding you've been eagerly awaiting!
The drive from Fort Worth to Denton takes around 30 - 45 minutes, depending on traffic, so make sure to plan accordingly. If you're staying at any of the local Denton hotels we've listed out then you will only have a 10 - 15 minute drive to the venue.

Upon arriving at Hawthorn Hills, you’ll be greeted by the venue’s romantic ambiance and breathtaking setting. Whether the ceremony is held outdoors under the Texas sky or in the charming indoor hall, you’re in for a memorable evening of celebration.
