We are so excited to be introducing you to some amazing photographers in the DFW and North Texas area to celebrate National Photography Month. Today you get to read & "meet" one that we've known for a long time and that has a huge heart for first responders just like us! You're going to love Kelly with Blackall Photography!
At the risk of sounding cliche' my love for photography started out young. I still have my blue fisher price film camera by the way! Learning how to shoot & process film from my grandfather are memories I will never forget- I still have a few old prints from our outings together. Then helping out in high school on the yearbook/newspaper staff (Go Farmers!) was where I formed a solid foundation for the art of telling a story with my photos... I always loved the smell of the developer-weird I know! Then off to college...they gave me my first digital and said...here learn this! So I did! Based in the Historic District of Old Town Lewisville in the most perfect little historic farm house (sans farm) I live with The Cowboy and 3 of the coolest dogs ever! Yes, I think I'm slowly becoming the crazy dog lady but It could be worse right... can I get an amen crazy cat ladies?!! ;) We love hunting, archery and firearms. I am a competitive archer (when I don't have weddings) competing in tourneys all around N. Texas and I love it. Not only the shooting part which is awesome but the fellowship with a group of friends that are priceless. I adore them more then they know! Mostly I am a homebody that loves to cook full meals every night and snuggle up on the sofa with The Cowboy and my dogs!
Two of my favorite quotes are: "Life's a banquet and most poor bastards are starving to death!" "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyways!" If I could offer one tip to couples for their wedding it would be to give yourself grace during the planning process. I know… easier said then done but for some us type A’s… you know who you are, it really helps to schedule the days of planning and then more importantly schedule days OFF of planning. Make a note and stick to it- that not one wedding detail will be discussed or planned during that time. It’s so very important to not let yourself get overwhelmed during the planning stages. We teamed up with the Denton's Original Half-Pint and sponsored some cool drinks for all the couples who attended! So fun -- sparkling water & "something blue" spritzers were a huge hit. If you haven't checked it out - talk about a fun way to entertain your guests during a cocktail hour, for your engagement party or even just as an outdoor bar set up! What would you put on tap? I think our vote is for wine or champagne! But on a hot summer day, sparkling water and lemonade make a perfect set up to keep guests cool for an outdoor ceremony. Be sure to give our friends a shout & add a unique touch to your event that will be sure to make it an experience you won't forget!
