One of the BEST things we get to do with our couples is help draft a floor plan. It’s sort of like one of our favorite things when it comes to details and prepping… is that weird? Well, if you didn’t know we are wedding nerds now you do! Floorplans should get way more hype and credit than they do when it comes to planning. It is the BIGGEST way to bring your vision to life and will outline your entire reception.
A lot of times what we see though are couples who are burnt out by the time they need to sit down and draft a floor plan. It’s not the most exciting thing, and it doesn’t always look the best - compared to floral arrangements or that cute custom sign you had made that is. It can also be very overwhelming once you start thinking of all the little details and things that go into a floor plan. Wildflowers and bouquets designed to create a statement rather than simply accompanying a bride are jaw dropping. From the height and combination of soft pinks and deep reds the style is perfect and should inspire you to allow your florist to be creative and design you a one of a kind bouquet. One thing we do love about Southern weddings is the extended time brides are able to wear short/sleeveless gowns into the fall. Paired with a perfect hair piece {another big trend this year!} it allows a bride to choose the hair & dress style she envisions for her big day. |
Which bring us to the last big trend of this post: place settings. Gorgeous plates and colored drink-ware are a huge hit this year and surely you can see why! The added customization wraps up the entire scene to create a sophisticated & romantic setting for a beautiful wedding.

Sunday Spotlight: A Time to Shine Floral Design
Whoever said, “do what you love and love what you do,” must have had Kelly in mind, the owner and head florist of A Time to Shine Floral Design. Her love for flowers began at age 16 when she volunteered to fill in a short-staffed floral department at her job in the local grocery store, and then requested to be permanently moved to that team. Soon, she began dreaming of starting her own floral business and giving clients a completely customized experience. One day after work, Kelly shared some ideas with her husband and he said, “Go for it!” The rest is history.

Feast of Roses: Banquet
It's no secret Hawthorn Hills Ranch has a big heart for the community & for local organizations. This non-profit banquet was one of our favorites from 2016. The ladies of this group did a phenomenal job to incorporate various aspects of their organization from their colors to their squirrel mascot.
Floral accents can add elegant touches without over powering a table for a banquet. These roses paired with our vases and accent pieces offer a gorgeous look with the red linen napkins and accent runners. A beautiful touch that set the decor over the top was the accent of a pearl in the middle of the red rose.
Whether it is a small or large banquet, celebrating the year's end or a company's anniversary we would love to celebrate with you at Hawthorn Hills Ranch. One of the perks of our modern, southern chic venue is it's versatility to make it your own.

A Fairy Tale Come True
Every girl wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day from planning every last detail to putting on her white gown. This styled shoot took place at our venue in Denton TX and is just full of inspiration, Cinderella vibes and modern details. Candles add an elegant touch and add height to the tables while keeping the clean setting uninterrupted. One of our favorite details is the full tulle skirt that flows in the wind and would leave any bride feeling like Cinderella.
